Giving in and Trying Single Speed

Here’s an image that’s getting all to familar my bike with the rear derailluer hanging off.  This Sunday I picked up a stick about 4 miles into the ride and ruined my outting.

IMG_2974Yes this is my new (to me) XTR derailleur I just purchased on ebay.  I’m pretty burned out on this stuff.

I decided I would try Single Speed again and see if I could get used to it.  If I have to start walking the steep hills so be it, I’m tired of pushing my bike out of the woods with parts dragging behind.

Eli gave me the hook up on Luke’s old Single Speed GT PEACER bike, or at least most of it. I did some tinkering this morning and got it semi rideable.  I’ll be single speeding Wednesday morning, expect a full report.  That is if I can find a few parts to finish this thing up.

That chain is not going to work.
