It Rained, Alot

The purple represents major flooding, the X is about where I live.

I haven’t wrote much lately because there hasn’t been much to write.  Its rained… alot.  The rivers are high and climbing, towns are being evacuated, and while much of my town is on higher ground, including my home many people aren’t so lucky.  The oldest town in Illinois, Old Shawneetown was evacuated recently and most towns along the rivers are facing the possibility of disaster.

Oh and I haven’t been able to ride my bike, sounds pretty lame compared to what some people are going though. Well I guess I could have rode, but I’m not fond of riding in the rain, and most of the rain we’ve been getting has been accompanied by strong thunderstorms.

I planned on getting some major long rides in the last few weeks before the big day at the 3 state 3 mountain ride, but Sunday I gave up and actually dragged my trainer back into the house for a grueling hour session of pretend hill intervals.  I was almost enjoying that stuff over the winter but now that I’ve had a taste of some real riding its even less fun.

I noticed that Fox News had a crew nearby at Metropoilis IL. home of Superman, and the Superman bike ride, and a riverboat casino amoung other things.  It was odd to my neck of the woods on national news.

Hope to get a big long ride in this weekend, there is a decent chance it’ll be dry.  Keep you’re fingers crossed for me.

  1. The “X” is where I live too. Not much riding going on here, either. Blah.

It’s good to see you came through unscathed. Using a trainer in April is definitely a sign of your desperation!

The rain has been a real downer. I been trying to get some miles in for the GOBA ride still got some time. I really enjoy your blog.

Hey Ed we were all worried about you when we saw that Tornado rip through Lambert Airport, I guess you made it through OK.
